Welcome!

The scientific interests of my research group are focused on the development of new methodologies for the synthesis of chiral heterocyclic compounds. We exploit transition metal catalysis (Pd, Au), as well as enzyme catalysis, to that aim. Our current efforts are focused on the stereoselective synthesis of natural and unnatural polyhydroxylated alkaloids, the development of new, unnatural amino acids for peptidomimetics, the synthesis of various natural compounds, and of novel strigolactone analogues for the regulation and control of plant growth. In the recent past we have also been interested in medicinal chemistry, especially working on the discovery of new 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors and on molecules which are able to modulate the immune system response as adjuvants in vaccination protocols.

My current position is Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, University of Florence, Italy.
